After a 6 A.M breakfast we caught the 7:10 shuttle to O’Hare. Jan went through a body scanner and I had a normal security check. The plane was a little late, left about 9:30 CST from Chicago. The flight was pleasant, and arrived at the Dominican Republic airport in Punta Cana about 3:30 P.M (2:30 EST). We walked a distance from the plane to the terminal, bought tourist pasts for $10 each that they discarded after scanning, found the luggage, and then bus for a 2 hour ride to the Iberostar Hacienda Dominic resort in Bayahibe, found luggage again, and we’re escorted on a golf like cart to very nice & large room (with no internet). We had to call 4 times before someone came to get the safe to work. We ate at the buffet, went to the beach for a reception & an autograph session with 4 of the past & present Cubs players, and started getting acquainted with others.
